Winter weddings aren't for the faint of heart.

Which is exactly what makes Rebecca and Zach's wedding day so memorable.

Rebecca has never been a fan of the cold. In fact, she gets intensely cold. But when she imagined her wedding day, she kept coming back to one thing: a snowy Colorado winter wedding surrounded by mountains, fresh powder, and the people she loves most. So despite the temperatures, she embraced the season wholeheartedly—and the result was pure magic.

A First Look at Steamboat Lake State Park

After getting ready at La Joya Dulce, Rebecca and Zach made their way to Steamboat Lake State Park for their first look.

The snow-covered landscape provided the kind of Colorado backdrop that feels almost unreal. Towering peaks, pristine snow, and endless winter light created a quiet moment for the two of them before the celebration began.

Wrapped in each other—and admittedly doing their best to stay warm—they shared one of the most emotional moments of the day. The photos capture exactly what made their relationship so special: genuine joy, deep friendship, and a sense of adventure that has always defined their story.

Choosing a Winter Wedding Anyway

One of the things we admire most about Rebecca is that she never let the weather dictate her vision.

She knew a winter wedding would mean cold temperatures. She knew portraits in the snow would require some bravery. And she knew there would be moments when she'd be counting the seconds until she could warm up inside.

But she also knew she wanted the snow.

She wanted the mountains.

She wanted the magic that only exists during a Colorado winter.

Looking through their gallery, it's hard to imagine this day any other way. The bright blue skies, fresh snow, and dramatic mountain views created an unforgettable backdrop for every moment.

A Ceremony Surrounded by Snow-Capped Peaks

With family and friends gathered at La Joya Dulce, Rebecca and Zach exchanged vows overlooking sweeping views of the Elk River Valley.

Winter weddings have a unique intimacy about them. Guests bundle together, conversations linger a little longer, and everyone seems more present in the moment. Against a backdrop of snow-covered mountains, Rebecca and Zach promised forever in a ceremony filled with emotion, laughter, and more than a few happy tears.

Their beloved dog even joined the celebration, adding another personal touch to a day that felt authentically theirs from beginning to end.

The Details That Defined the Day

Some wedding galleries are remembered for grand moments.

Others are remembered for the details.

Rebecca and Zach's wedding had both.

The delicate winter florals. The soft textures that complemented the snowy landscape. The carefully curated reception details. The way candlelight reflected throughout the space as guests gathered to celebrate.

Every element felt intentional without ever feeling overdone.

The design embraced the beauty of winter while still feeling warm, welcoming, and timeless.

A Celebration Full of Energy

If the ceremony was emotional, the reception was a party.

From their grand entrance to their first dance, Rebecca and Zach brought incredible energy to every part of the evening. Friends and family filled the dance floor, speeches balanced heartfelt emotion with plenty of laughter, and the celebration carried on long into the night.

One of our favorite things about destination weddings is how they bring people together for more than just a few hours. Guests travel from across the country, spend several days exploring Steamboat Springs, and arrive at the wedding already feeling connected.

By the time Rebecca and Zach's reception began, it felt less like a wedding and more like a reunion of everyone who mattered most.

Why Winter Destination Weddings Are Worth It

Winter weddings require a little extra courage.

A little extra planning.

And occasionally a willingness to stand outside in freezing temperatures for photographs.

But when the snow is fresh, the mountains are glowing, and the people you love are gathered together in one place, the payoff is extraordinary.

Rebecca may not love the cold, but looking through these photographs, we're pretty sure she'd make the same choice all over again.

And honestly? We would too.
