Winter weddings have a way of creating stories that become family legends.

Katie and Shanon's wedding at La Joya Dulce was filled with those kinds of moments — the unscripted, joyful, perfectly imperfect memories that everyone still talks about long after the snow melts.

Surrounded by fresh snow, blue Colorado skies, and the sweeping mountain views of our private ranch, Katie and Shanon created a celebration that was elegant, deeply personal, and unmistakably theirs.

The Jeep Adventure

Winter weddings at La Joya Dulce often involve a little creativity.

Katie's gown was nothing short of spectacular, featuring layer upon layer of gorgeous fabric that looked absolutely stunning against the snowy backdrop. There was just one small challenge.

She couldn't actually sit down in it.

When it came time to head out for portraits, the only solution was for Katie to lay down across the seats of the Jeep while everyone carefully tucked mountains of tulle around her. The result was equal parts hilarious and adorable.

Judging by the laughter, nobody minded one bit.

Private Vows Among Snow and Cows

Before the celebration began, Katie and Shanon stepped away for a quiet moment together.

Bundled against the winter chill, they exchanged private vows in the snow near the ranch's pasture, surrounded by peaceful winter scenery and curious cows looking on from nearby.

There is something extraordinary about carving out intentional time during a wedding day — especially during a destination wedding weekend when emotions are running high and the schedule is full.

These quiet moments allow couples to slow down, breathe, and remember exactly why everyone has gathered together.

For Katie and Shanon, those private vows became one of the most meaningful moments of the entire day.

A Sleigh Entrance Unlike Any Other

One of the most unforgettable moments of the day happened before guests ever saw Katie.

Katie made her grand entrance by horse-drawn sleigh, gliding across the snow-covered ranch in true Colorado fashion. But this wasn't just any sleigh ride.

Katie's father, a former race car driver, wanted to take the reins himself. Before the ceremony, we taught him how to drive the horse by listening to the rhythm and cadence of the sleigh bells — a skill that quickly became second nature. Watching him proudly guide his daughter toward one of the biggest moments of her life was incredibly special.

It was the perfect blend of family tradition, adventure, and ranch charm.

Grace Under Pressure at the Top of the Aisle

As every seasoned wedding professional knows, sometimes the unexpected happens.

Just as Katie reached the top of the aisle, she experienced a wardrobe malfunction that could have rattled even the calmest bride. Instead, she handled it with absolute grace, humor, and more than a little panache.

Most guests probably never even realized something had gone awry.

That's the magic of a confident bride: when the unexpected appears, it simply becomes part of the story.

And honestly? Those are often the moments couples laugh about most years later.

Elegant yet relaxed. Intentional yet joyful.

A wedding day filled not with perfection, but with authentic moments shared among family, friends, and the people who matter most.

And really, that's what weddings are all about.
